Nepal Association for the Welfare of the Blind (NAWB) is a prominent national-level non-governmental and not-for-profit organization established in 1985. Our primary mission is to raise awareness for the prevention of disability, rehabilitation, and empowerment of persons with disabilities in general and visual impairments in particular. Our inclusive approach on the board, comprising cross sections of both persons with disabilities and those without disabilities, distinguishes us from other organizations, portraying our commitment to comprehensive inclusion.
Our overarching goal is to ensure that every individual, regardless of disability, exercises their fundamental rights, reaches their full potential, and enjoys dignity in society. Over more than four decades, we have steadfastly served over two hundred thousand individuals with visual impairments and other disabilities. Our services encompass a wide spectrum, including raising awareness for the prevention of disabilities, blindness prevention, education, healthcare, livelihood support, inclusive disaster management, youth empowerment, and advocacy for holistic development.
