A five-day Braille training program for school teachers was launched at Nepal National Basic School on April 24, 2025. The inauguration ceremony was chaired by Head Master Mr. Dilip Kumar Shahi and inaugurated by Deputy Mayor Mrs. Manjan Karki. The Provincial Coordinator of Chhaya Nepal also attended as a special guest. Senior Trainer Mr. Hom Nath Aryal opened the program by highlighting the importance of Braille training and sharing his extensive experience in the field.
Mr. Shahi noted that the school currently provides Braille education only up to Grade 5. Beyond that, students face multiple barriers—including poverty and geography—that often prevent further study. He emphasized the urgent need for a secondary-level Braille program in Mugu to ensure continued education for visually impaired students. The training program is a significant step toward strengthening inclusive education and aligning with national policy to support learners with visual impairments.
