For Blind and Visually Impaired Students (Age Group 11–13 Years)
The Essay Competition 2026 for Blind and Visually Impaired Students was successfully organized by the Nepal Association for the Welfare of the Blind with generous support from Lions Clubs International.
The competition was based on the theme “Together as One”, encouraging students to imagine a world united in inclusion and harmony. Participants were required to submit essays in English, with a maximum word limit of 500 words.
A total of 23 students from 13 schools across different regions of Nepal actively participated. The event provided a meaningful platform for blind and visually impaired students to express their creativity, ideas, and vision for a more inclusive society.
Winners:
• First Position: Ritika Ghimire (Grade 8, Laboratory Secondary School, Kirtipur, Kathmandu)
• Second Position: Prinsika Thapa (Grade 5, Adarsh Secondary School, Sanothimi, Bhaktapur)
• Third Position: Dilika Tamang (Grade 5, Sanjiwani Secondary School, Dhulikhel, Kavre)
The first-prize-winning essay has been forwarded to America for international selection. If selected, the winner will receive a prize of USD 5,000.
The program was coordinated by Mr. Bimal Poudel (Lions Club) and Mr. Ratna Kaji Dangol (Nepal Association for the Welfare of the Blind), with active participation from more than 23 Lions members. The District Governor appreciated the program's success and reaffirmed continued support for similar educational initiatives in the future.
Overall, the Essay Competition 2026 was a grand success, promoting academic excellence, confidence, creativity, and unity among blind and visually impaired students.

The Essay Competition 2026 for Blind and Visually Impaired Students (Age Group 11–13 years) was successfully organized by the Nepal Association for the Welfare of the Blind, Central Office, Tripureswor, and Kathmandu. The program was generously supported by Lions Clubs International, District 325.

The theme of the competition was “Together as One” (Imagine a world where we all come together as one). Participants were required to write an essay in English, with a maximum limit of 500 words.

A total of 23 blind and visually impaired students from 13 schools across different regions participated enthusiastically in the competition. The event provided a meaningful platform for students to express their creativity, ideas, and vision for a more united and inclusive world.

Winners of the Competition

The winners of the Essay Competition 2025 are as follows:

FirstPosition:
Ritika Ghimire, a 13-year-old blind student studying in Grade 8 at Laboratory Secondary School, Kirtipur, Kathmandu.

SecondPosition:
Prinsika Thapa, a 13-year-old blind student studying in Grade 5 at Adarsh Secondary School, Sanothimi, Bhaktapur.

ThirdPosition:
Dilika Tamang, a 12-year-old student studying in Grade 5 at Sanjiwani Secondary School, Dhulikhel, Kavre.

The essay of the first-position winner has been forwarded to America for international selection. If selected at the international level, the winner will receive a prize of USD 5,000.

Program Management and Participation

The program was conducted and coordinated by  focal  person Mr. Bimal Poudel from Lions Club and  program officer Mr. Ratna Kaji Dangol from the Nepal Association for the Welfare of the Blind. More than 23 Lions members actively participated in the event, showing strong commitment and support toward the educational development of blind and visually impaired students.

The Lions District Governor appreciated the success of the program and announced that such fruitful initiatives would be continued in the future to further support and promote quality education for needy blind and visually impaired students. The Essay Competition 2026 was a grand success. It not only encouraged academic excellence but also promoted confidence, creativity, and unity among blind and visually impaired students. The organizers and supporters reaffirmed their commitment to continuing such meaningful educational programs in the years to come.
